I don't have one yet. Sometimes I look at Craigslist for an NB with a manual gearbox.

Three generations, mostly distinguished by having better MPG and bigger engines as they get newer. They also get heavier.

I. 1989-1997 NA Easily distinguished from later models by the covered headlights. 1.6-1.8 liter B series engine (iron block) 2070-2180 pounds

II. 1998-2005 NB 2.0 liter B series engine (iron block) 2348 pounds

These cars have the exposed headlights (good) and are more aerodynamic than the NA. They have improved wheels tires and brakes but still have the iron block engine.

III. 2006-2015 NC Duratec 2.0 liter engine Multi-link rear suspension 2400-2500 pounds, yipes!

The 2016 (ND) model has a Skyactiv super high compression engine... but it's new so it's of no interest to me.

I am inclined to get a NB model, they are a lot cheaper and lighter. Probably easier to get parts for them too.

Possible changes

  • Delete power windows
  • Delete power steering
  • Delete air conditioner
  • Install roll bar
