Apr-2011
I got a Sony HWS-BTA2W bluetooth stereo audio adapter, in Sony's catalog, from Amazon for about $50.
Receive mode
It is intended to allow playing music from a bluetooth mp3 player or phone. I connected the line out to an available line input on my stereo receiver.
Mac
It pairs with MacBook Pro, so that I can watch movies on the laptop and listen to the audio track on the stereo. When playing music you select the HWS-BTA2W bluetooth headset as the output option.
Ubuntu
I ran bluetooth-wizard from the ssh command line (I don't have a monitor on my media server.) and got a connection right away. Running gnome-control-center works too.
Debian Jessie
There is no "bluetooth-wizard" here. I don't want to install gnome so "gnome-control-center" is off limits too.
Transmit mode
It will send audio (but you have to throw a switch to put it in Tx mode) so you could feed music to a pair of bluetooth headphones.
