I am experimenting with putting war driving software on this, probably using Horst. Not sure yet how to connect a USB hub.

I enabled the serial console this morning and plugged the Pico Debug Module (a very handy device) into the GPIO using a STEMMA cable like this

GPIO DBG U port
pin 6 GND red
pin 8 TX black
pin 10 RX white

USB

The Zero has only a micro USB connector supporting OTG. I plugged in an adapter and a thumbdrive and confirmed it works (see dmesg output)

My portable (blue led) hub does not work, but my 7 port industrial hub does. To wit:

[ 1039.676460] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using dwc_otg
[ 1039.676659] Indeed it is in host mode hprt0 = 00001101
[ 1039.916687] usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0409, idProduct=0050, bcdDevice= 1.00
[ 1039.916747] usb 1-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0
[ 1039.917784] hub 1-1:1.0: USB hub found
[ 1039.926522] hub 1-1:1.0: 7 ports detected

This is perfect for the car computer / war driving scenario as I can power the Pi Zero off the hub and power the hub from 7-24VDC
