Overview
Otter is a Toshiba Magnia SG20 server running Ubuntu Linux that acts as my firewall / router.
Goals
Replace a pricey $30 / month Packet8 phone with a more flexible system that allows me to use far cheaper services.
Planned set up
Incoming calls
Grand Central provides me with a free local phone number (DID) for incoming calls. They route the calls to a Gizmo Project SIP account.

I also have a [Freeworld Dialup] account that can receive calls.
Outgoing calls
Currently I have some money on account at Les.net. It's pay-by-minute with no monthly fee. Rates are about $.015
Another good provider is voipjet.com.
Hardware available
1 Grandstream Budgetone phone
1 Sipura SPA2000 ATA
1 Desktop running Ubuntu on the LAN with Gizmo Project softphone installed
1 Laptop running Windows XP on WiFi
Implementation
I am using the generic asterisk package that is pulled from the Ubuntu repository. To this I make the following configuration changes.
Les.net connection
Use the instructions with the les.net account to set up iax.conf and extensions.conf files.
