MapSource is the Garmin program that allows viewing Garmin maps on a Windows (or Mac??) and transferring maps and data to Garmin GPS devices.
It comes with every map set that Garmin sells, but you can download it from the Garmin site without buying any maps if you want to use it with your own maps.
I run MapSource under Linux with VMWare. I'd really like a Linux version.
