Instant book series
While I was not looking, [Packt Publishing http://www.packtpub.com/] managed to publish well over 100 "Instant" books. To see the full list, go to their books page and select "Instant" as a filter.
The concept is GREAT. They are up to date, they are inexpensive and they are focused. All the books are available only in eBook format. This is fine with me, since I stopped buying books on paper several years ago.
I never have time to read the full length books that I buy anyway. With conventional books I end up reading chapters 1-3 to get started and using the remaining chapters only as reference material. And frequently I use the web as often as chapters 4 through N.
"Learn something new in an Instant!", they say. Does this work? I am going to find out by reviewing their Instant OpenLayers Starter.
Disclaimers: I already know a lot about OpenLayers, and this was a review copy of the book (I did not pay for it.) I like PacktPubs, having paid for many of their books including their OpenLayers 2.10 book.
