I have a Logitech (formerly Squeezebox) media streamer. I love it. I have all my music on a Linux box where I installed the Logitech squeezeboxserver package. This means I can stream radio stations OR I can play music stored on my own server.

I can install Squeezeplayer (Steven Hansel Solutions, $4.99) from the Android store onto the phone. Then it becomes a media player.
Note it's now just a player. To start music playing I can go to the web page generated by squeezeboxplayer and the phone appears now in the list of players. I think this is pretty neat.
 
On my Android smartphone, I installed the free Logitech Squeezebox Controller.
(I have read that Orange Squeeze is a good controller but it's $4.99 and I can't preview it, so I am trying the Logitech app first.)
 
Sure enough, it works. The display in the Logitech app is very close to what I get on the Logitech device itself. So now I can use my smartphone as a controller for both the GXV3240 and the Logitech. Handy.

This is a VOIP phone running Android.

The bad parts

Google Play Store

Currently the version of "Play Store" is 5.3.36 (I think that's right) and it crashes every time I try to install an app!

I downloaded the APK for an older version (5.2.13) and put it on my Web server. Then I browsed to it and downloaded it to the phone. Then I installed it by clicking on it in the Downloads app.

It works! I quickly go into its settings menu and turn off automatic updates.

I install an app! It works!

I go back 2 minutes later, find another app, and... it has been updated!! Gag me! Right now the only work around I have for this is to keep the APK in Downloads and reinstall it.
