Short answer, I went with Ansible.

What are they and which one should I use? They are provisioning tools used for setting up virtual machines. I should use the one I am most comfortable with.

What are the other options no one hears about? (There are always options.) BTW "Salt" is the other popular one.

Why write this page? There are similar pages by a few hundred other people. This one is easy, these are my own notes written for ME, not an article intended to guide YOU.

This guy really likes Ansible. http://probably.co.uk/puppet-vs-chef-vs-ansible.html "I can't actually think of a good reason to use Chef." :-) Okaaay.

I don't like Ruby so let's narrow it down to Ansible or Salt. This guy likes Salt: https://missingm.co/2013/06/ansible-and-salt-a-detailed-comparison/

Next I have to ask what Docker is.

So it's Salt

For today anyway. Funny since I don't mention it in the article title. I will start a new one: Salt. See you there.
