Garmin ETrex Vista HCX

I now have a Garmin eTrex Vista HCX as my primary GPS handheld, replacing my venerable and worthy EMap.
USB connection
The eMap has a serial port, very simple to use.
The eTrex has a USB port. To use it on Ubuntu I had to remove the standard Ubuntu package for gpsbabel and build a new version from source to get the USB support. I am currently using version 1.3.5
