Cloudy is not always great

Cloud based services

It's hard to debug when you don't have access to the server at the other end. When I am controlling the server, it's easy for me to log into it, crank up debugging, and watch what happens. With a service, it's like particle physics. I have to shoot a request at the server and then guess at what happened by watching what bounces back off it.

You pay for EVERYTHING

There is a small incremental cost for all services. If I want to host a 32 terabyte data set I have to pay a bundle. If I host it on my own server, I just need to pay for the disk drives one time.
